You can even see wild horses (if weather is good)! Grassy Land/Marlboro Trek Trail. 2-3hrs of back trekking . A sunrise viewpoint. Rice terraces and limestone formation can be seen along the way. 1pm – travel from Sagada to Bontoc. Travel time is 1hr & 30mins. Rest. Free and Easy.
Day 3
Wake up at 4am. Hike Mt. Kufafey and Fato. 10am – travel to Buscalan. Buscalan is a town in Kalinga. The people are very friendly and the hike up is 40 minutes breath taking. Old traditional houses are still intact. Life here is very simple and happy. It is the home of Apo Whang-od, described as the "last" and oldest mambabatok (traditional Kalinga tattooist) and is part of the Butbut people of the larger Kalinga ethnic group.
Day 4
Tattoo price ranged from Php500-Php2,500 (SGD14-SGD67). You can choose and ask the meaning of the tattoo. Apo Whang-od has been tattooing headhunters and women of the indigenous people of Butbut in Buscalan, Kalinga since she was 15 years old but the Butbut warriors who used to earn tattoos through protecting villages or killing enemies no longer exist. Despite that, Whang-od continues to apply her traditional art form to tourists visiting Buscalan. She also has a grandniece who followed her step.
